Welcome to Moonshine Media
About us
Who we are
If you happen to venture to the old royal hunting ground that is Soho you may find more than you bargained for.
Hidden in the labyrinth of narrow streets and confusing one way systems lies a new creative agency the like of which has never been seen. The intoxicating nature of the advertising which comes from this design distillery, formed in 2006, has led the locals to call it Moonshine.
Working in all manner of cutting edge media, the Moonshine factory is a Pandora's Box of creativity. Once opened, the opportunities anddirections are endless. With such a small bespoke team you may ask how this is possible. If you've met the team, you'll understand.
If on your travels you find a mysterious door which seems morewelcoming than the others, you should walk through into a world where they work around the client and offer more than you could imagine possible. It's the Mad Hatter's Tea Party approach to design, you should try it...but don't be late.
The way we work
So what is in this hooch that's being cooked up? Well, it's fairly explosive stuff.
Start by mixing dynamic fresh design with global experience, add some carefully selected ideas and leave to ferment until bubbling with enthusiasm. Filter through a magical sieve which only allows the brightest and best ideas through to ensure the highest quality of work and serve with a smile. The handpicked team behind Moonshine is what makes all the difference though, allowing for unique design tailored to our client's exact needs no matter what size of project.
We revel in projects which will stretch us (we are more agile than the 1984 Russian gymnastics team). Once on board, clients are lead on a journey which develops close-knit, personal relationships that are both durable and mutually beneficial.
We fully engage with the project, doing our homework so that we fully understand the context of every project we take on. After assessing the client's needs, we define a strategy to deliver unbelievable end products in realistic budget and time restraints.
Then we perform our own kind of alchemy, turning our ideas into golden visual creatives, allowing ourselves to evolve and change every step of the way.
People
- Name: Matthew
- Job: Moonshine Managing Director
- Description: He's a northerner. And too proud of that fact. He has ran 2 marathons. drove a 250pound (as in money) car from Manchester to Banjul, Gambia, Africa for charity. Lived in Sydney for three years. Matt has spent nearly a decade working in london's top agencies and finally decided to become the master of his own destiny. Spends far too much money on clothes. (especially jazzy cardies!) Matt has adopted a peter pan attitude towards life, love and work. An expert robotic dancer, matt will offend any dancefloor if given the chance. Top tv show: dragons den, closely followed by minder.
- Name: James
- Job: Moonshine Senior Designer
- Description: He's a southerner. As a teenager spent most of time on wheels in some form or other, peaking in him playing for the England roller hockey squad. Unfortunately, this was not a way to make a living/way in the world, so james turned to his next favourite hobby; making pretty pictures. As he got bigger, this turned into what they call 'design', and he duly became what they call a 'creative designer'. A devoted south east London resident (the north is to posh for him). Has a passion for hats and neck regalia but not in a dick van dyke way! Matt discovered him at his final year design degree show for Goldsmith’s. Then they got drunk and talked about how to design things. Fan of the music – will also not travel via public transport without headphones on. Having worked together for 18 months, james took flight with matthew to begin the moonshine revolution. Top tv show: the shield.
- Name: Benjamin
- Job: Moonshine Designer
- Description: He's a southerner and part time Westcountry boy. He was found by matt during his study at Falmouth college of art. He had an amazing time living in Cornwall, he enjoyed the local cider, skinners ale and surfing the coast line. Like James he is also a fan on new music, enjoying anything from low-fi punk to folk-electronica. Contemporary illustration plays a huge part in inspiring ben's work and he is an avid collector of books on illustration and design. His work has been featured in several publications. Top tv show: 'Garth Merengue's dark place'.
- Name: Andy
- Job: Moonshine Technical Director
- Description: He's a northerner. Started life as a humble potato farmer in the far reaches of Lancashire, but decided to 'uproots' and study spud design at uni. After this foray into tater design he decided to seek fame & fortune in london where he heard the pavements were paved with designer King Edwards. After spending nearly a decade working for agencies around london trying to find the perfect starchy root, he decided to go to the far reaches of the earth in search of the ultimate russet. Spending a few years in Sydney he bumped into Matt, and the rest as they say is history. Oh yeah, in between all this he did spend over a decade doing print, video & web work. Specifically the past 8 or so years he has been involved in the development and architecture of applications and sites, that have involved complex visual front ends, and actionscript based solutions which required a good knowledge of backend technologies and database integration, for clients ranging from Microsoft and Pepsi through to the likes of Disney & Ford. Top tv show: Gardeners world!
